ANIMAL WELFARE STATEMENT
The Mt Gravatt AH&I Society, Mt Gravatt Showgrounds, National Rodeo Association & CMC Rodeo all take animal welfare seriously and are committed to complying with the Queensland Animal Welfare Standards and Guidelines.
These standards and guidelines apply to all animals used at rodeos in Queensland. These standards are not intended to prohibit barrel racing, which may be held in conjunction with a rodeo. The standards apply to all people responsible for the care and management of animals at rodeos including rodeo associations, rodeo organisers, animal welfare officers, stock contractors, judges, protection clowns and competitors. These standards and guidelines should be considered in conjunction with other livestock welfare requirements, including the Australian Animal Welfare Standards and Guidelines relevant to the animal species.
Animal cruelty and unacceptable animal welfare practices can be prosecuted under the ACPA.
